If the movie got one thing right, it was the bravado of spartans and none would flee from war. This is known in all historical records of them.

Nov 11, 2008 - I do get what ur saying, because I just did n entire unit on Sparta/Greece/Athens/Persia... that exact war actually, n yes the movie is very much off in so many ways. BUT... the point is to entertain. Not 2 be historically correct. The men r half naked because it's more attractive then the usual heavy as shit full body armor... n it's very much pleasing 2 the eyes. It also makes them look a hell of a lot better, as in implying that they could b naked n still take on an entire army.

Add a little "spice" 2 a war movie (especially cause there's been soo many) and it makes it all the better. It's one of the best movies of this age, except it^^

Nov 11, 2008 - My concern is mostly for the largely uneducated history wise audience that is going to think that at least some parts of the movie were real instead of picking up a book or a historical documentary. Sadly, anything done about historical events now days does have a larger influence for better or worse in audiences. That was the main reason why I was unhappy about the unreal and exagerated features of the film.

Just a reminder of how distanced from historical reality the movie was. Oh, I am actually a fan of past historical warfare, maybe I know a thing or two to help me survive for while being in the battle, who knows?. Actually I could have fought on the Persian side, really. At least they were not hypocrital Greek Southern Slave masters fighting to preserve their Autocracy.
