Various views of trolleybuses in Solingen, including the turntable at Burg. Views from Wohwinkel where the trolleybuses meet the Wüppertal Schwebebahn form their own film. Videotaped over several visits in the early 1990's.

Mar 20, 2007 - 2 excellent videos of Solingen trolleybuses . Please can anyone tell me why the Burg turntable is " doomed "?
citytransportinfo Says:
Mar 20, 2007 - There is a desire to run longer, articulated trolleybuses but the turntable is too small to accommodate them. Because of the rocks on one side and steep slope on the other side it has been deemed to be 'too expensive' to rebuild the turntable for longer trolleybuses - so duo buses will be used with them reversing by travelling through the village streets in diesel power. Which is a shame.

Mar 20, 2007 - hi citytransportinfo , thanks for your explanation of why the turntable at burg is not going to be rebuilt . I hope that the duo buses will run on electric ( trolley ) power for the rest of the journey ?

Jul 12, 2007 - Thanks. I am pleased you found it to be of interest. I think the longest trolleybus route is in Yalta. Maybe Solingen's 683 is the longest in Germany. Regards Simon
