This video compliments the video of the Metropolitan Line and mainline trains racing north of Wembley Park station. This video does not feature any racing, but the views from an open window on a southbound class 115 DMU heading towards London Marylebone station might be of interest. This video is separate from the other one because the combined video exceeds youtube's 10 minute limit. Also seen are A stock Metropolitan Line trains, 1983 stock Jubilee line trains and inside this train. Hand held video, filmed in the early 1990's.

Mar 19, 2007 - Class 115 DMU, on the Network SouthEast service into London Marylebone station. I assume it originated from Aylesbury. This was filmed waaay before railway privatisation, and the Chiltern TOC who run this service nowadays.

Jun 16, 2007 - Interesting to see the old Jubilee line stock.

Jun 16, 2007 - yup, the ill fated 1983 stock, which like the Watford Joint Stock on the Bakerloo were retired well before they became life-expired.

Jun 16, 2007 - Seems we are quite good at chucking things away before it's time in the uk. pity really.

Jun 16, 2007 - yes, and then we end up paying through the nose to undo our mistakes.

Jul 10, 2007 - its mad how everythings changed. you can see the old chalkhill estate and the old seats LOL they look much comfier than todays ones. well cleaner anyway
citytransportinfo Says:
Jul 14, 2007 - yes, the older trains had proper fully upholstered seats. But upholstery is expensive, especially when it keeps needing to be repaied because someone with a knife slashed it. So nowadays modern trains use seating which is different. Simon

Jul 28, 2007 - you've even got one of the 1986 Prototype (Namely the Red one) for the Central Line (The prototypes for the 1992 AdTranz Stock) in the depot. Cool vid btw

Feb 8, 2008 - Having sampled both these bubble cars (well, 121021) and the newer "Clubman" stock. I prefer the seats in the Clubman class than the bubble cars. Though I prefer the bubble cars to the Turbos... Nice video!

Feb 17, 2008 - I also now have uplifted a short film with these trains, albeit filmed in silent super 8 cine film. Simon

Apr 8, 2008 - 1983 STOCK FOREVER! Should never have been withdrawn. London Underground made new trains because they would be only 10% more expensive than modifying the existing trains. That's 10%, plus a lot of metal that is now a complete waste, saved if they did their original idea!
citytransportinfo Says:
Jun 1, 2008 - History repeats itself - the Watford Joint Stock for the Elephant & Castle - Watford Junction service also only lasted a decade or so. The reason these trains were withdrawn is similar too - experience showed that the configuration of the passenger doors was not optimal, and the station dwell times were too long. Simon

Nov 17, 2008 - The 1983 stock was a proper Underground train. If they were still around now they might just be unrefurbished, therefore they would still have their nice vulgar 1980s (70s) colour scheme, nice wooden floors and nice strap-hangers like a proper tube train. 1996 stock my arse. WOW btw, great vid 10/10

Mar 19, 2007 - Where was the train going from and where was it to? What company was running the trains when it was filmed?
