MySpace Friend Me! http://www.myspace.com/psychtruth http://www.storyofstuff.com/ Story of Stuff, Full Version; How Things Work, About Stuff From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever. ©Tides Foundation & Funders Workgroup for Sustainable Production and Consumption This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 Unported License.

Dec 31, 2008 - If this video had been made WAY LESS POLITICAL it would have been entirely more effective at achieving its desired purpose, which is for humans to live with less stuff. But with so many other political overtones and finger pointing going in this video, the very people that need convincing are being turned away and hardened in their position because this video has insulted them so. Being able to argue a point is one thing. Being able to convince opposition is another thing entirely. This Vid F--

Dec 31, 2008 - Oh I didn't know that the "National Happiness" was growing in the early 40´s.. "hmm, interesting coincidence"... It's so sad that these 20+ year-old new "defenders of the environment" who are blind to all criticism and take all their material to these YT-videos from Al Gore's and co. powerpoint presentations. And with it they´re just trying to make themselves feel a little better..

Dec 31, 2008 - well, maybe their reasons to do such a video aren't as clean as the content (I and 99.9% of the people watching it cannot say it because I/they just dont know these people), but the content is still there and there are facts in it, wich you cannot deny.

Dec 31, 2008 - yes watch these videos, but here is the same as in the public media like tv: ask questions about it to get the truth!

Jan 1, 2009 - Yes, we must stop them planning the Earth's obsolescence by working together to hold gov responsible to the people, representing the common interest. We must build things to last or at least with biodegradable materials. We must form critical mass to overwhelm the destructive creation of this increasingly critical mess. Also, please realize some of these commenters are mere functionaries. The core-rats pay PR flacks to pose as grassroots folks, astroturf fux, really.

Jan 3, 2009 - Well meaning, if flawed. Statistical Retrofits! Does the 99% of consumed goods that is gone within 6 months perhaps include food? Just Plain Bad Science:Dioxin is present in essentially all foods. Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream contains about 2000 times in excess of what the EPA deems safe for human consumption, and in fact more than a typical glass of gasoline refinery wastewater. Eat up! Fear not:We're only wrecking the planet for ourselves. Earth will be here long after humans are dead and gone.

That bit with CPU design obsolesence was when i stopped watching. thats not design obsolesence! its just rapidly advancing technology!
Yomadorr Says:
Jan 8, 2009 - sure its rapidly advancing technology, but to what a price??
dorkydorkdork Says:
Jan 8, 2009 - Yet they aren't making attempts to make new chips renewable. Also, computer companies hold back a lot of newer technology just to keep the market going in many cases

Jan 8, 2009 - That was awesome. Except one thing: how can you measure national happiness? How can you know it peaked in the '50s?
