Oct 20, 2008 - Absolutely. Stunning. I can feel myself feeling the same passion he's feeling. It's beautiful.

Oct 31, 2008 - so passionate.
RichardKastleMusic Says:
Nov 1, 2008 - No, Chopin's music makes you cry. Lang Lang's performances make me cry, but that's something else entirely.
Tiberius717 Says:
Nov 1, 2008 - Excuse me man, but frankly I feel myself neither a racist nor an idiot just because I don't like LangLang (unless for you racist and idiot is everyone who has a different opinion from yours). I simply prefer a much more virile way of playing Chopin (which is the closest style to his spirit, too). I love Pollini, in fact.
Tiberius717 Says:
Nov 1, 2008 - Anyway, the only thing that counts as a musician is music, not whether or not your body is still on the chair. Being still while playing doesn't mean you don't know how to make music. The greatest pianists as ever were totally still, in fact. They used to make music by using their minds and hearts, not by making ridiculous spectaculs of themselves (which distract and annoy listeners).
RichardKastleMusic Says:
Nov 2, 2008 - You are accused of racism because Chinese are very sensitive about this abomination, and they know he has hurt the future of Chinese pianists (to the extent that they ever had any future) in the West. They have been humiliated by his ridiculous behavior. He has since stopped the ridiculous behavior, but his sales are way, way down, and he has been reduced to playing pieces with names like "River with Snow and Water Buffalo" in rural China.

Nov 4, 2008 - I always admire a musician that feels the music he/she is playing. Lang Lang is absolutely amazing on the piano with Chopin's "Nocturne Op. 27 No. 2".
RepofReason Says:
Nov 4, 2008 - Hey! You definately have a point about music having nothing to do with the pianists bodily expressions, except I would point out, in particular with Lang Lang, that his expressions do add to the excitement of the performance. Lang Lang's music is exceptional and his expressions just make it even better. -
RepofReason Says:
Nov 4, 2008 - I disagree. I think bodily expression only adds to the excitement of the performance. It's like watching a ballet... The Nutcracker for instance, the music is wonderful but add ballet, and you have even greater emotional experience. I admit that this does not always hold true, but I just wanted to point out that music is not always "the only thing that counts". Peace!

VoodooPriestess Says:
Nov 6, 2008 - i absolutely adore his interpretation of this piece...(ohhh how i miss my piano-playing days...) I think his movements (although exaggerated in my opinion, but then again, when i play, my body's a stiff board...) actually helps him convey the emotion into his playing. It seems natural for him to move with the music.
123strauss Says:
Nov 6, 2008 - Why can't you play piano now
mikedubya Says:
Nov 7, 2008 - I respect his playing ability but c'mon. The man looks like he's being fellated by the piano as he's playing... and I just find that creepy.
Mayaulrika Says:
Nov 14, 2008 - yes, I agree, he is so tragic and flamboyant that you can hardly pay attention to the music, waiting for a new mug to put you off. But I suppose thats down to everyone's style of interpretation. There's a lot of people who find this sort of ecstatic movements quite amazing. I personally find them unnecessary.
francescopollini1 Says:
Nov 16, 2008 - noshirm's comment is well put - if inadequately worded. Lang Lang is the future of classical music. No one plays this nocturne as well as he does. I think people should just listen to the playing without looking at him. Listen to the sound and you will be entranced. Check out that amazing fioritura passagework - Lang Lang's the man!
2nd2nun2 Says:
Nov 16, 2008 - he's in another world when he's playing it and i wish i could play like that... and yes if u just listen to the music it's well played
astilleros11000rpm Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - an oriental interpretation of this Nocturne... like Yundi Li interpretated Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2 very beatufiul! but not 100% Chopin... 97% :)
SouLjaaGiirL Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - This is the way he chooses to express his music. He feels the music when he does this.
mikedubya Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - It's okay, you don't all have to leap to his defense or anything... I mean, thanks for the clarification but I can't help it if he creeps me out. I admit it is easier to appreciate him when I minimize the window. = )
