Jul 20, 2008 - In Feb '98 Curtis had to have his right leg amputated due to diabetes. It is said that he sadly died a year later (Dec 26, 1999) due to complications of diabetes. Let us remember the legacy that his music has left, a truly talented musical genius. Rest in peace, Curtis.

Aug 2, 2008 - i remember this episode of flip wilsons show. it was great. I have this album it was great then and now. Curtis Mayfield was great and he will be missed but at least we have his music.

Aug 5, 2008 - I believe he died in Brooklyn when a bank of stage lights fell on him. Must be 15 years ago by now... going from memory (and therefore might be inaccurate!)
