Sep 15, 2008 - Mayfield was active throughout the 1970s and 1980s, though he had a somewhat lower public profile. On August 13, 1990, Mayfield was paralyzed from the neck down after stage lighting equipment fell on him at an outdoor concert at Wingate Field in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York.

Sep 17, 2008 - he plays fingerpickin'.... he fuckin rules!! RIP Mr. Mayfield. He played his guitar using open F# tuning, his guitar playing sounded like a piano... he is one of the greatest guitar inspiration for me, even tough he's not a hellraiser like Hendrix, Eddie Hazel and other guitar heroes...

Jul 20, 2008 - In Feb '98 Curtis had to have his right leg amputated due to diabetes. It is said that he sadly died a year later (Dec 26, 1999) due to complications of diabetes. Let us remember the legacy that his music has left, a truly talented musical genius. Rest in peace, Curtis.
