Nov 18, 2008 - With regards to the oil producing nations mentioned, Ren is spot on about those nations. They were basically given a silver spoon in their mouth. The entire Kuwait Investment Office is run by British bankers and british investment analysts for instance. It has everything to do with Western business and investment practices and nothing to do with conservative islam.
DolittleZoo Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - What do you think happens when you call your customer a thief when he has just given you a big fat cheque?? There is now a concerted effort throughout the whole world to replace oil/coal eg. the Chevy Volt which is a series hybrid car coming fall of 2010 will be the beginning of the end of the internal combustion engine. The investment in solar technology and products coming onstream is another example of the challenge to oil/coal's role in every department.

Nov 18, 2008 - One could use the same fact to conclude that Kuwait's money created numerous job opportunities for people in the UK, as they did to other people in other countries. But that has roots in a long Islamic tradition of business & trade with China, India, Byzantium, the Vikings, etc. Its the extremist Muslims like the Taliban who prefer to isolate themselves & live in contradictions.
DolittleZoo Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I totally agree that investment is vital these days for the good of a nation's health. The kuwaitis money have put them in the position of bankers charging interest on their money or getting yields from their investments. So the financial instrument is not actually in line with how islam views money and investment. But I totally agree that capital is the lifeblood of the economy and the symbiotic relationship between Kuwait and UK is forged from the common need.

Nov 19, 2008 - two points....The Saudi Flag has a sword, what is that about? Second Point...IRA??Christian, Irish, terrorist group. When a Muslim commits a crim it is usually co-ordinated by a terrorist group!! The words Alkhadia and Hezboula usually come up because they are members!! Go back to what ever you do best. You obviously don't know that Stereotypes are only belived by the weak. You are picking on minority groups in South of America, Nazi's or Skin heads probably KKk.

Nov 20, 2008 - Nawas7 - No reponse to my comments about Deir Yassin and the persecution of Jews in Arab countries after the birth of Israel?
Nawas7 Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - I know the Arab Jews issue after the creation of the state of Israel is a very controversial. At that time Arab nationalism was at a peak, it even reached higher peak later on during the time of the Egyptian president Nassir. Arab nationalism is no longer that popular. The nationalists persecuted many Arabs & caused a lot of troubles to their own countries. But Im sure you dont mean all Arab countries. Are Moroccan, & Tunisian Jews really persecuted?
Nawas7 Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - As for Deir Yasin, I dont think I completely agree with you. As far as I know some Palestinians exaggerate the atrocity after the event, hoping that this would bring the neighboring Arab armies more quickly. But that propaganda created terror among many Palestinians who then left their homes, which gave the Jews some easy areas to take. I believe most Palestinians today blame the Palestinian propagandists for that.
DolittleZoo Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - Obama is so keen on alternative energy to revive the US economy that it seems a matter of a short time before the US takes leadership of the green revolution. The prices oil has descended to could well be permanent as declining consumption of oil becomes entrenched into the industry. People are simply not interested in a future with fossil fuels anymore.
chained2it Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - "But that propaganda created terror among many Palestinians who then left their homes, which gave the Jews some easy areas to take." Yes, perhaps that is true. But I am talking about the incident itself and what actually happened and why, not the aftermath or how it was used. It is true that innocent people were lined up against the wall and shot. People unfortunately often go too far in war. But the reasons for attacking Deir Yassin were legit
chained2it Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - "Are Moroccan, & Tunisian Jews really persecuted?" WHAT Moroccan and Tunisian Jews? There's only an estimated 7000 left in Morocco, & 1500 in Tunisia. Why do you think that is? There were deadly anti-Jewish riots in both countries following Israel's birth & both nations adopted anti-Jewish domestic policies. My own family's experience tells me that even Morocco has not always been friendly to Jews. Tunisia is different now, and Arab nationalism may have quieted, but the damage is already done.
chained2it Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - "The nationalists persecuted many Arabs & caused a lot of troubles to their own countries." Its not the same thing. Jews were seen and treated as outsiders by nationalists, as Jews not Arabs. In some cases they were directly thrown out of their own countries. Nasser exiled over 50,000 Egyptian Jews. Where was the public outcry over this? And ironically, as is the case if many nations, Jews have been in Egypt since long before the Arabs ever came - and were then told they dont belong there
Nawas7 Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - Overall I see your words supporting my opinion. Arab nationalism brought a lot of corruption, it caused a lot of damage on locals & outsiders sort of speak. Unfortunately many people ignore those facts of the modern Middle East history. They seem to think that the conflict with Israel had always been in the name of Islam. Where in fact even the modern political Islamic movement are merely Islamic on the cover. They have similar agenda, policies, & ideology to the Arabic nationalism.
chained2it Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - Yes, I am fully aware of the attempts at man-Arab nationalism, and how that was quite a different phenomenon than Islamic extremism. The Arab/Israeli conflict was born out of conflicting nationalist claims to the same land, not clashes of religious extremists. And I agree = ANYtime there is a confusion of religion and politics, religion only serves to mask political goals. Religion is a unifying force that can and often has been misused to manipulate people towards political ends
chained2it Says:
Nov 21, 2008 - I commend you for at least recognizing how Deir Yassin was exaggerated and used to enflame opinions. It is nonetheless an unfortunate and brutal event, and one that Israelis are not proud of. But as I said, Palestinians ignore atrocities committed by their side as well.
DolittleZoo Says:
Nov 22, 2008 - Muslims must recognise that in every nation throughout history, the military is used to fight in a battlefield. This honourable fight is important to keep women, children and property safe whilst the men beef it out, whereafter on outcome will stamp out a treaty and everyone carries on life with the new rules. Muslims encourage their own demise due to ignorance of the rules of engagement and continue to erode any respect and authority without which life is not possible with other people.
LilBlitz116 Says:
Nov 22, 2008 - why should palestinians focus on thier atrocities when the world onbly speaks on thiers plus israel ha 1000000000000000 times more atrocities
DolittleZoo Says:
Nov 22, 2008 - The world knows that a viable nation anywhere in the world is an asset to the world. We, realise that Israel can be an asset to the world and can play a role in the world. After all they have a democracy and export markets even if they dont have oil. They are quite an advanced nation and are players in the technological fields. Palestine we know will be just like any other muslim nation which is usually not too impressive. Fighting, anarchy, regressive and a future enemy to peace in the world.
LilBlitz116 Says:
Nov 22, 2008 - ppl dont wanna know real islam there i no excuse 4 being ignorant of islam the information is out there.ppl will only watch listen or read something negative on islam and would even pay attention 2 the truth.
DolittleZoo Says:
Nov 22, 2008 - Post 9/11 non-muslims got a "crash" course in islam (pun intended) and now muslims are going to have to explain to everyone how a sexually depraved warlord whose ambition was for his kingdom become the sole witness/author of a book that is a guide to morality and spirituality. Why did Arab society descend from their dizzy heights while still practising islam to a 90% semi nomadic society in the 1930s (preoil). It is a humiliating descent for a so called enlightened nation empowered by islam.
Nawas7 Says:
Nov 22, 2008 - Many people look at Islam through dark glasses of prejudices. Therefore, they only see darkness, not the true color of Islam.

Nov 18, 2008 - Most non muslims saw Saddam as a madman for standing up to the USA and a bit of a comedian. In almost the first day of the war his whole airforce disappeared from view. Saddam was counting on the USA not turning up. When they did all he did was run and hide through the whole encounter.
