Dec 21, 2008 - Not so. You have it backwards. Joe Dassin is the son of Jules Dassin (American/French film director) and his first wife Beatrice Launer (Hungarian violinist). Melina Mercouri (Greek actress) was only 18 and in Greece when Joe was born in New York (?). In the 60s, she became the second wife of Jules Dassin. They were together until she died in 1994. She had no children with him or anyone else. Joe Dassin died in 1980 and his father in March 2008.
