This is an introduction to Camstudio keeping in view the students who want to do the recordings of the live lectures and save them to their hard drives as well besides accessing them from the server. Camstudio is a screen capturing free open source small tool that records the screen or portion of the screen with audio. The file can be saved as .avi or .swf. The new version 2.5 is not expected to have this particular feature. This video is about version 2.0.

I try to record for a long time (about 1 hour or 2 non-stop), but when I finally click STOP & type a name for the file & click SAVE, I get a message saying "Unable to open video". Why is this happening? It's like I can't record anything for a long time. If I record something short (a few minutes) then everything works fine; I can save the video clip and then watch it. Can someome explain how to record something for 1-2 hours?
