Oh I forgot the EU isn't a democracy. It's a group of unaccountable officials who want to bring in a totalitarian state. Great for Ireland if they are pushed out of the EU - they can make separate trading agreements with any EU countries they want to & ignore the others, while retaining their own soul & sovereignty.

Jun 16, 2008 - Thank you jinkyfc. Unfortunately, despite my id, I live in the UK too so I have been denied my democratic right to vote on the treaty, as specified in the 2005 Labour Manifesto. We're meant to be fighting for democracy in Iraq & Afghanistan - at least that's the explantion given when we lose yet another brave serviceman/women but there's precious little democracy at home!

We can hold our own with the bullies and fascists in Bruxelles. We have had enough integration on my opinion. But if we are to go further, then there should be full disclosure of whats involved. They ask the people of Ireland if they accept the treaty, they get the answer "no", and now they sit around deciding what the question meant, and how to re-phrase it! Aug 8, 2008 - it is called DEMOCRACY.what do you think we were the only country that had a chance to vote?..because the governments of the other eu countries know that their people would have voted no.Have you read the treaty. there is even a clause so countries can opt out/be removed from the eu.. which basically means do as we say or ur out. why should we vote for that. we spent 800 years and 10,000's of irish lives to get our freedom and ill be damed if ill hand it over to a bunch of arseholes in Brussels
