Apr 17, 2008 - This guy David Willis, as Able, is so beautifully undestated...too bad this scene was cut from the theatre..

Apr 20, 2008 - "This was great! Haha, Eli senses Daniel's bullshit (not that its not really obvious), and basically calls him out on it. Great!" But Eli got owned by Daniel many times in this movie and that was really great!

May 25, 2008 - One of the best films I have seen in a long time. And Daniel Day-Lewis. I really don't know what to say. His talent and brilliance is beyond words. My love for films has been magnified even more after seeing TWBB. I hope we get to see MUCH more of Daniel in the future, because it is a HUGE LOSS not to be able to watch and appreciate this man's genius work more often.

Jul 3, 2008 - This scene is almost directly from the novel "Oil!" There Will Be Blood is the best movie I have ever seen. Quite by far.

Aug 25, 2008 - Haha, exactly what I was thinking. Right when Abel asked about being saved, I had a feeling that it would be the part where Daniel makes up the church.

Sep 24, 2008 - this would have made the rest of the movie easier to understand

Sep 25, 2008 - "I belong to the Church of the WORLD!" haha I love that I am going to start saying that to Jesus-freaks who need to save everyone in order to feel more alive in their insecure little worlds.

RoboDouche Says:
Jan 4, 2009 - Then you may have missed the point of the film. Plainview is a filmmakers symbol of what's wrong with America, and the 'church of the world' is nothing to boast in. That's the point PTA is making. The movie is an allegory. It depicts the relationship between the 'church' (Daniel) and the 'world' (Eli). The Church is compromised and bows to the worlds greed. But the world is an unquenchable, egomaniacal monster. Both are ruin. Only Paul and HW (also symbols) provide hope for something else.
digink Says:
Jan 4, 2009 - I don't understand how you can gather what point I walked away from the movie with from that statement above. Sure Daniel Plainview is the representation of what is wrong with America, I get that. He is in many ways the embodiment of the brutal ways of American Imperialism as it spread to the West. That still does not change the fact that many people of a so called "faith" view people without that "faith" as being inferior, when in reality they are the narrow-minded beings. Good day kind sir.
RoboDouche Says:
Jan 5, 2009 - That's why I said 'may have'. I chose my words carefully. :) The point was not to be presumptuous. Just to point out that however badly the religious may behave at times, the 'world' is no better.
