condonrichard Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - The historical origin of the phrase "American exceptionalism" was the assertion by scholars in the 20th century that the people of the places that became the United States were not bound by the feudalism and repression of Europe. It is a sham that this truth has been "spun" into an excuse for undue influence upon other nations. The truth is that this "American flower" can only grow in American soil. Each nation must flower in its own soil.
GuyInvincible111 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Agreed. Unless America discards its notion of exceptionalism, it cannot begin to understand its history of imperialism.
teemuruskeepaa Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - If America has people who use the very ideological base in its own interest, then the ideology doesn't apply as it should.
zutroy1 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Yes, but this isn't what other countries want. If the US could just let other countries develop it would and it would be better off for it. Instead, if there are poor people in one country, innocents being killed in another country, and natural disasters wreaking havoc in yet another country, each one of them will run straight to the US and demand help. The 2nd and 3rd world want to have their cake and eat it too.
jabzulani Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - What is R.A.S.H?
condonrichard Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - You are correct, but the problem is not unique to the United States. The Prophet [pbuh] raided caravans; the pirates off Africa raid shipping; the model was created, but it is abused. What's the difference?
afrircans1970 Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - REMEMBER THIS IS NOT A SINGLE PERCEPTION REALITY. IF WE HAVE PEOPLE DEMANDING WE "AID" COUNTRIES THAT ARE NOT AS WELL OFF AS THE USA (FOREIGN AID TO AFRICA, AS AN EXAMPLE) Thus we will continue to have the element of "Imperialism" as a core ideology (however that may be opinionated). When we HAVE decided to remain uncommitted, we have many elements calling us to stop "Isolationism". This is a complex issue: sound bytes don't do it justice.
teemuruskeepaa Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - The question I want raise is what is the common denominator. All systems that have social division have in fact a predatory ideology, nothing like progressive rationality of the Enlightenment. All capitalist systems are in every level the same as the top level, structure conveys the ways of thinking to people, who the elite have never met. And no system that is fair can have by definition people who fight it.
khanbaliq Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - America's actions haven't changed since the Cold War. It's not conquering nations, but it's often bullying them into submission. In this way America is seen as the sole antagonist.
condonrichard Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - The human experience is the common denominator. I look into myself and my experience and look for that in me which may be in others. I (a European-American, middle-aged, raised in affluence) see greed, fear, etc. expressed differently elsewhere. But we are all alike.
sugarpuddin88 Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - Gimme a break! The American people have lost all but no. 3 of their Bill of Rights --- And didn't object! America has got to be the dumbest country on the planet! Do they put some sort of chemical in your water to lobotomize the citizens?
jove04 Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - 1) America went to Iraq because Zionists wanted to divide Iraq and the region's large countries into small manageable governments. All for Zionist Israel and to control the oil of the world. 2) America went to Afghanstan to encircle Iran both from Iraq and Afghanstan and to control the Caspian sea oil to Europe. America wanted to hand over the big Middle East to Zionists and the oil fields for itself but failed in both cases. Now American Zionists are destroying the country from within.
somethingawful01 Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - What I find funny is how North Korea is called a dynasty while the US is called a democracy. Obama and Bush are related so the people of the US 'voted' another Bush into power, instead of 'voting' for Bush's friend. This is the ridiculous stupidity that governs the US and is bringing the country to its knees. Zionists rule the country and all those who have any intentions of achieving anything have to bow to their will, rule and power.
