Bruce wrote the original song to which were supposed to be on his album called "Darkness on the Edge of Town" but was hard to place on that album but Patti and his Manager recorded Patti's Easter and they got interested and Bruce basically "gave" it to Patti and then she change a few words due to not fitting her style as well as the tempo. But much credits to Patti for making it as famous as it is.
