Apr 23, 2008 - hey guys, i have a proposition. Shall we have a movement on Youtube for a FRANCO DA/Y?? (And i am not talking about the Spanish dictator)
gouaf Says:
May 9, 2008 - Kindu, I'm on board-- Franco was a genius... Who coulda seen it coming? I mean back in the mid 50s he was just this little boy playing for De Wayon. That was way back then, when Leopoldville was one of the best places to be on earth.

May 10, 2008 - JUNE 6 SHOULD BE THE DAY! This year, it will the 42nd birthday of TPOK Jazz! What a good idea!
larryboy1995 Says:
May 10, 2008 - Kindu, make that the 52nd birthday, sorry.
kindu2006 Says:
May 10, 2008 - yeh, just a proposition

May 10, 2008 - exactly! hehehhe
jumasalmin Says:
Aug 8, 2008 - Kindu2006 do you have an idea where i can get lyrics for the song pesa position??/
KOwino Says:
Aug 18, 2008 - Tabu Ley is much better, his music has style and variation, and very dancable, I must admit. Franco (RIP) was domineering in his music, rhythm was monotonous and songs too long. Howeever, whenever Franco was absent in a set, the TPOK music was superb, like "Mouzi" here. K'Owino
KOwino Says:
Aug 18, 2008 - Very good Rhumba- however the sound is a live version, not studio quality. Very good effort by Ntessa Dalienst (RIP)and his team on this song, as always. Somebody must have forced this audience not to dance- It would be impossible to stay seated through such a great experience! K'Owino
kindu2006 Says:
Aug 18, 2008 - You DONT know what you're talking about. There is no African musician that can equal FRANCO in musical repetoire. Have u come on here to create division? Just because you BELIEVE that Tabu Ley's music was MORE danceable than Franco's, it means Tabu Ley was much better? Have you an EAR for music? Can you UNDERSTAND lingala ( there the lyrics)? I should HOPE so, - at least that way I'll give more credibility to your criticism.
KOwino Says:
Aug 19, 2008 - Yes, I undestand Lingala, have hundreds of Franco & Tabu Ley songs; have had time to do side-by-side comparisons. As I said, the TPOK band was phenomenal- look at Ntesa Dalienst, Simaro, Josky, Pepe Ndombe, Madilu; they were a study in great Music. Everytime I have made a similar comment about Franco, his fans go mad. Fact is, the guy was a spoiler in the band, I wish he stayed on the guitars and shut up as his boys did what they knew best. That is my considered opinion, and I stand by it. Best
kindu2006 Says:
Aug 19, 2008 - You opinion is respected. Taby Ley, however, is NOT better than Franco.
KOwino Says:
Aug 19, 2008 - Ok, No problem. Just stated my preference, that's all. As you may have guessed, I really like TPOK music, just wanted to provoke discussion! Good day
kindu2006 Says:
Aug 19, 2008 - LOL. no problem, my friend. STay blessed. I must also tell u, I really do ENJOY tabu Ley's music.
Rumbamaster Says:

Franco was a genius why lie,i love music and the composition of his music was just amazing, i know music very well and to me music is composition but i gave him 100% on his composition. Now i'm dying to get to know what he was talking about please help
olambad Says:
Nov 19, 2008 - Kowino, you have a very good point...Tabu Ley is great maybe better but franco had charisma, and most of all was very funny on stage. Once you like him like that...
bahwenge Says:
Nov 20, 2008 - I especially like from 7:05 to7:20 when one of the horn players is trying to get the attention of the conductor and trying to let him know that the pace of the guitars and the singing is off beat. He later flashes a smile and nods his head when the sound comes together. That's what i call "music concious".This is so good for good music lovers.
muvua07 Says:
Nov 29, 2008 - this is BIG, way ahead of their time

Dec 18, 2007 - The audience is made up of a bunch of over fed rich people who know nothing about life. They could afford the concert but they do not respect the talent of the artists.
